2-year-old Boy Disappears During Flood Evacuation In Tebet, Found Dead

JAKARTA - Residents found a boy with the initials A (2) who was swept away by the current of the Ciliwung River during a flood evacuation in Kebon Baru, Tebet, South Jakarta on Tuesday, near his house in a state of death.

"Residents saw the body of a small child in a supine position near his house at around 04.00 WIB," said Tebet Police Chief Kompol Murohih in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 5.

Murohi said the findings were obtained after the condition of the overflow of the Ciliwung river receded drastically and the electricity in the settlement had been turned on by PLN.

Furthermore, residents evacuated the victim to his grandmother's house in the RT010/RW010 Pioneer Gang, Tebet, South Jakarta.

"Furthermore, residents reported the findings to the joint Timsar," he said.

The inhibiting factors in the search process are due to the weather, overflowing times, narrow boat mobility access, and electric cables.

Then, the elements involved are SAR Jakarta, Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat), Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Tebet Police, Kebayoran Baru Satpol PP and the local community.

The DKI Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) noted that from Wednesday to 06.00 WIB, there were three Neighborhood Units (RT) in Kebon Baru, South Jakarta which were flooded with a height of 60 to 200 centimeters (cm), which was caused by the overflow of water from the Ciliwung River.

Previously, a boy with the initials A (2) was swept away by the current of the Ciliwung River during the evacuation of floods on Jalan J, RT 010/RW 010 Pioneer Gang, Kebon Baru, Tebet, South Jakarta on Tuesday (4/3).

At first, at that time four volunteer teams were evacuating five flood victims using rubber boats.

While evacuating, the rubber boat capsized due to the strong current of the river water.

Due to this incident, local residents reported the incident at the Tebet Police.
