Samsung Introduces Project Moohan Headset At MWC 2025
JAKARTA - Samsung realizes that income from the mobile sector will not last forever. With the development of AI and 6G technology, the way humans communicate also undergo drastic changes. Now, this South Korean company is starting to penetrate AI-based hardware.
At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, Samsung introduced Project Moohan, Samsung's newest long-awaited XR headset.
Apple often emphasizes the use of premium materials in its products, but this sometimes risks the comfort of users. An example is the Apple Vision Pro, which even though it looks luxurious, feels quite heavy because it is made of metal.
Samsung took a different approach by making Project Moohan out of plastic, so the weight is lighter and more comfortable to use for a long time.
The model displayed on MWC 2025 has not changed since it was first introduced at the Samsung Unpacked event earlier this year. This headset has a design resembling ski glasses, with a front display that also functions as a screen. There is a strap surrounding the head with an adjustment dial inspired by the Meta Quest Pro.
According to a review from the MKBHD YouTuber, this design helps distribute the weight of the headset over the forehead, compared to the Apple Vision Pro which further suppresses the eye area. Samsung also brings thick and soft pads to the strap to improve user comfort.
A number of physical buttons are spread around the headset, allowing users to easily adjust volumes and other settings. One of the buttons can even adjust the lens distance to match the user's eye. Unlike Apple Vision Pro, which uses a fixed external battery, Project Moohan is equipped with a removable USB-C power bank.

Various sensors and cameras also appear to be attached to this headset, which is likely to be used to support hand-moving navigation. Overall, Samsung seems to have grown a lot since the Gear VR era, with Project Moohan presenting a cleaner and more modern design.
So far, there is still not much official information about Project Moohan. However, although the specifications are well known, it is likely that it could still experience changes before its launch. Currently, this headset uses Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2, the latest version of the chip used on Meta Quest 3. Project Moohan also runs Android XR from Google, specifically designed for mixed reality-based smart devices (XR).
Samsung has yet to announce the official release date for Project Moohan, so its design and features can still change before launch. However, based on information circulating, Samsung plans to release this headset this year.
