Bekasi Paralyzed, 3 Mater Flood Soak, Hundreds Of Houses Affected

JAKARTA - Bekasi Regency and City, West Java were hit by floods on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Based on aerial monitoring photos obtained from BNPB, it appears that the river overflows and submerges houses and roads around it. The land is filled with brown water.

Head of the BNPB Disaster Information and Communication Data Center Abdul Muhari said the flood was caused by high intensity rain and shipments from Bogor. In line with BNPB, the Head of BPBD Bekasi City, Priadi Santoso, said that high intensity rain increased water discharge from the upstream of the Cikeas River and Cileungsi River, so that the Bekasi River overflowed and caused flooding.

Based on the BNPB report, at least 140 housing units were submerged with water levels reaching 3 meters in 7 sub-districts of Bekasi City. Seven sub-districts in Bekasi City were affected:

1. East Bekasi

2. North Bekasi

3. South Bekasi

4. Medan Satria

5. Jatiasih

6. Pondok Gede

7. Rawalumbu.

Meanwhile in Bekasi Regency, as many as 15 houses were affected by flooding with a water level of 150 cm. Until this news was broadcast, March 4 afternoon, BNPB was still trying to evacuate flood-affected victims. BNPB ensured that a joint team of officers deployed many rubber boats to evacuate flood victims. BNPB is also still collecting data on the number of affected residents.

Regarding electricity, temporary power outages are still being carried out at a number of flood points, to anticipate the presence of residents who were electrocuted during the evacuation process. Bekasi Mayor Tri Adhianto said that apart from hitting residential areas, floods also hit malls, government offices and Bekasi main roads. So today the city of Bekasi is called a total 'surface'.

"Today, Bekasi City is paralyzed, until it reaches the main road, including the government office, it has started to enter the water, come out, because then the runoff is extraordinary," said Bekasi Mayor Tri Adhianto.
