The Issue Of ECU Brake Booster, Toyota In Indonesia Recall Raize And Agya For The 2021-2024 Production Year

PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) held a special service campaign (SSC) or product recall that was already in the hands of customers, to get treatment related to potential problems in certain parts.

Toyota harus menarik kembali model Raize tahun produksi 8 Juni 202116 Juli 2024 serta Toyota Agya tahun produksi 22 Juli 202229 Juli 2024, dikarenakan repromeming Electronic Control Unit (ECU) yang mengendalikan brake booster.

Vice President Director of PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) Henry Tanoto, said that Giving Total Mobility Solution, Toyota's attention and responsibility did not stop until the car came to the customer's house.

"With a continuous improvement spirit, we continue to research on products that have been marketed to find possible problems and immediately take corrective steps," he said, quoted from his official website, Tuesday, March 4.

Back to the recall of the two models above, both are equipped with a brake booster controlled by the Electronic Control Unit (ECU). The brake booster or booster brake is a component of the car's brake system that helps drivers brake to make it easier and lighter.

There is a potential for malfunction in the engine's ECU due to inappropriate programming, where under certain driving conditions there is a possibility that the brake booster cannot work optimally. This situation will increase the stopping distance of vehicles which makes the driver have to put greater pressure on braking, thus affecting the safety of vehicles on the road.

The reprogramming process (postware update) to update the system and overcome potential malfunctions will be carried out by global Toyota certified expert technicians so that the process can take place quickly and safely. Estimated checking time until the update software is complete, lasting about 1 hour without the need for replacement of any components.

Toyota Raize and Toyota Agya customers are advised to do booking service first, so that dealers can prepare stalls and technicians, and don't have to wait too long in line because they have been scheduled. The entire inspection process until the final check is free of charge.

"With all humility, PT TAM invites Toyota Raize and Toyota Agya owners for certain production years to come to Toyota's official workshop throughout Indonesia to determine whether their vehicles get service," said Marketing Director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) Anton Jimmi Suwandy.

He further said that Toyota will conduct an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) examination which controls the work of the booster brake and software update to improve its performance.

"Customers can contact Toyota's official dealer network spread throughout Indonesia, the official website. In addition, they can interact with Toyota Interactive Virtual Assistant (TARRA) via Whatsapp at 0811150315 to check status," said Anton Jimmi.
