Two Bodies Of Peak Jaya Climbers Arrive At Soetta Airport, Immediately Taken To Funeral Home
TANGERANG The bodies of two female climbers who died while climbing Puncak Jaya, Papua, namely Lilie Wijayanti Poegiono and Elsa Laksono, have arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang City, on Monday, March 3, at 17.00 WIB.
Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Cargo Post, Ipda Feri Susanto, revealed that the two bodies were flown by commercial aircraft from Timika, transiting in Makassar, before finally arriving in Jakarta.
"The body from Timika was flown to Makassar first, then continued to Soekarno-Hatta," Feri told reporters at Soetta Airport.
Upon arrival in Jakarta, Elsa Laksono's body was immediately taken to the Funeral Home of Santo Carolus, Central Jakarta. Previously, the body would stop at his residence in Tebet, South Jakarta. Meanwhile, Lilie Wijayanti Poegiono's body was taken directly to Bandung, West Java.
Feri added that the process of delivering the bodies was accompanied by a number of personnel to ensure the smooth journey to their respective funeral homes.

"According to the family's request, there was no meeting or ceremonial at the airport. The body was immediately delivered to the funeral homes in Jakarta and Bandung," he explained.
Previously, the two climbers died from hypothermia while climbing in Puncak Jaya or Carstensz Pyramid. The evacuation process, which was hampered by weather, was finally successfully carried out by helicopter to Mimika Hospital.
Mimika Police Chief, AKBP Billyandha Hilde 23, Budiman, said that Elsa Laksono's body was evacuated on Sunday, March 2, while Lilie Wijayanti Poegiono's body was only successfully evacuated the next day, Monday (3/3) at 06.53 WIT.
"The evacuation went smoothly even though it was hampered by bad weather," said Billyandha.
Now, the two bodies have arrived in Jakarta and are on their way to the funeral home for the funeral procession.
