Minister Of Manpower Ensures 8,000 Sritex Workers Affected By Layoffs Can Return To Work

JAKARTA - Minister of Manpower Yassierli confirmed that 8,000 victims of the termination of employment (PHK) of PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (SRIL) or Sritex will be re-employed within the next two weeks.

"As has been stated (by the Curator) that in the next 2 weeks the workers will be re-employed," Yassierli said in a press statement at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Monday, March 3.

Yassierli said this could give calm to Sritex workers who were victims of layoffs.

He ensured that the Ministry of Manpower would oversee workers' rights in the form of rights to compensation for layoffs and other normative rights to be fulfilled.

"In addition, the Ministry of Manpower will also oversee so that the rights of Sritex Group workers to Employment Social Security including JHT and Job Loss Guarantee can be fulfilled," he explained.

Present on the same occasion, Kurator Team Sritex Nurma Sadikin revealed that the curator team had opened the option of renting out Sritex's heavy equipment to other investors to increase bankrupt assets and protect assets.

"Our curator team has opened an option for heavy equipment rental, which option is to increase bankruptcy assets and keep assets from falling in value. Which we have also communicated with and there are also investors who contact the curator," said Nurma.

Later, within the next two weeks Curator will decide on investors who will manage Sritex's assets so that they can employ Sritex workers who have been laid off.

"The curator is also committed to paying workers' rights, which is currently in the bill registration process, where there are labor rights including severance pay and other rights," said Nurma.
