Apple Intelligence's New Features Coming To IOS 18.4

JAKARTA - Apple will release an iOS 18.4 update in early April 2025, presenting a number of new features from Apple Intelligence. Although some improvements to Siri have had to be postponed for further testing, this update still brings a worth looking forward to.

1. Priority Notifications: Smarter Notifications

Apple first introduced Priority Notifications at WWDC June 2024, but this feature will only be available on iOS 18.4.

This feature uses Apple Intelligence to analyze incoming notifications and highlight the most important based on context and time. For example, if the user orders food, notifications regarding the status of the order will be placed at the top so as not to be missed.

This feature is optional and can be activated via Settings > Notifications > Prioritize Notifications. Priority notifications will appear in a special box on Lock Screen with striking icons.

2. Image Playground: "Sketch" Option Now Available

The Image Playground app, which allows users to create AI-based images, now gets a new style option called "Sketch" on iOS 18.4.

Previously, users could only choose two styles, namely Animation (3D animated style) and Illustration (using a thick line and striking color). Now, the Sketch option offers images that look like high-tailed hand sketches and a simple background.

Apple describes Sketch as a more academic and elegant style, different from the previous two more cartoon and illustrative styles.

3. New Language Support for Apple Intelligence

iOS 18.4 will add new language support for Apple Intelligence, including:

- France- Germany- Italy- Portuguese (Brazil)- Spain- Japan- Korea- China (Simplified)- Local English for Singapore and India

4. IOS 18.4 Release Schedule

Apple has released one beta version for developers and public testers, with the second beta scheduled for release next week. The update will go through a testing process throughout March before launching in early April 2025.

5. How's the New Siri Feature?

The Apple Intelligence feature for Siri, which was originally planned to be present at iOS 18.4, is likely to be postponed to iOS 18.5. Apple usually doesn't introduce any major features in the .5 update, but a gradual strategy in releasing the iOS 18 feature keeps it possible.

Rumors say that the development of iOS 19 is also slightly delayed as Apple is still focused on perfecting iOS 18 and its AI feature.
