Ancol Area Experiences Delivery Of Garbage From The Sea, Considered Ordinary During The Rainy Season
JAKARTA - The Ancol beach tourist area, North Jakarta, often receives garbage from the sea. This phenomenon usually occurs when entering the rainy season or moderately high rainfall from January to early March uni.
"Although the amount of garbage that came had decreased, this condition continued until early March, although not as severe as before. This phenomenon is common, especially during the season with high rainfall," said Public Relations of PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol, Ariyadi Eko Nugroho in his statement, Sunday, March 2.
Eko explained that his party was also carrying out anticipatory steps, one of which was by alerting dozens of cleaners. Using a special net, they collect garbage floating in the waters and those stranded on the shoreline.
Not only that, the ground team also carried out routine cleaning in coastal areas to ensure the area remains clean and comfortable for visitors.
"We realize that this phenomenon is one of the obstacles in managing tourist areas, but we have also anticipated by alerting 30 cleaners in tackling it," explained Eko.

On the one hand, Ancol also has an independent waste management facility in the eastern tip of the recreation area. In this facility, Ancol sorts out the existing types of waste and processes organic waste into compost. The plastic waste is compacted and then distributed to plastic waste processing vendors.
"With continued efforts, it is hoped that tourists will still be able to enjoy a clean and comfortable beach atmosphere," he said
Furthermore, Eko also invited all parties to participate in maintaining Ancol's cleanliness.
"Maintaining the cleanliness of coastal and marine areas is not only the duty of the janitor, but also our shared responsibility. Therefore, we also invite visitors to participate in protecting the environment by not littering." he added.
