Syiah Kuala University Officially Gets Customs Facilities From Customs

Banda Aceh Customs and Excise provides customs and excise facilities to Syiah Kuala University as a form of support for the development of science and technology at the oldest university in Aceh Province.

Head of the Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office of the Customs Type C Banda Aceh Dede Mulyana in Banda Aceh, Saturday, said the facilities provided were in the form of exemption from import duties and excise duty on various goods for research and development of science.

"The provision of facilities in the field of customs and excise is a form of support in the development of science which aims to educate the nation's life," he said.

The goods that get the exemption from import duties and excise facilities include medical equipment including laboratory equipment, chemicals, technological equipment, and other components used for research and development of science.

In addition to exemption from import duties and excise duties, other facilities provided include not collecting value added tax or value added tax and sales tax on luxury goods.

"As well as being excluded from collecting income tax in Article 22 imports," said Dede Mulyana.

He said the release refers to the Regulation of the Minister of Finance Number 200/PMK.04/2019 concerning exemption from import duties and excise on imports of goods for research and scientific development purposes.

"The regulation actually aims to support the advancement of science and facilitate access to goods for universities, ministries of institutions, and business entities engaged in research," said Dede Mulyana.

According to him, the main pillar of increasing national competitiveness is the development of science and technology. With the provision of customs and excise facilities, it is hoped that it can improve the quality of education in general.

"The provision of facilities to Syiah Kuala University is expected to improve the quality of research in the health sector, reminding that research is carried out focusing on standard handling isolation rooms for COVID-19 patients," said Dede Mulyana.
