In The Aftermath Of The Consumer Lawsuit, Apple Confirms The Existence Of Carbon Emission Reductions On Apple Watch

JAKARTA Recently, Apple was sued by a number of consumers for lying at the marketing of Apple Watch products. In the lawsuit, seven consumers stated that Apple Watch was not 'carbon neutral'.

This claim is called misleading because two Apple-backed carbon-balanced projects don't really reduce carbon. Therefore, Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch SE, and Apple Watch Ultra 2 are said to be non-environmental and do not reduce carbon emissions.

A few days after consumers filed a lawsuit at the Federal Court in San Jose, California, Apple responded to the lawsuit. The company stated that it remains proud of carbon neutral products like Apple Watch.

We are proud of our carbon neutral product, which is the result of industry's leading innovation in clean energy and low-carbon design," Apple said, quoted from 9to5mac. "This innovation and progress is important for us and for the planet."

Apple also explained that it always details the results of their work as a form of transparency, including about the development of carbon-neutral products. The iPhone manufacturer confirmed that they managed to cut emissions.

"We have cut emissions from Apple Watch drastically by more than 75 percent, and we are investing significantly in nature-based projects to remove hundreds of thousands of metric tons of carbon from the air," Apple said.

Through this statement, it appears that Apple wants to refute allegations of misleading carbon neutral claims. The company still believes that innovation and progress in reducing carbon emissions are "important to us and to the planet".
