Government Claims To Take Strict Action On ODOL Trucks That Violate The Rules During Lebaran Homecoming
JAKARTA - The presence of obese trucks or Over Dimension Over Load (ODOL) on the road often causes accidents, especially now that it has entered the month of Ramadan and ahead of Eid Al-Fitr 2025.
Related to this, the Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development (IPK) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said the government was ready to take firm action against the presence of disordered ODOL trucks.
"We want to firmly control ODOL trucks that also often cause traffic accidents," AHY said at a press conference at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Saturday, March 1.
AHY assessed that the government could not ignore this. Given, the presence of obese trucks is one of the causes of accidents, especially on toll roads.
He emphasized that there will be strict sanctions for drivers and owners of obese trucks who do not comply with the rules.
"This cannot be allowed, we want to ensure that not only drivers, but also owners are responsible. Do not let the trucks overcapacity, especially on roads that are densely populated and crowded with drivers, it can cause road accidents," he said.
In addition, said AHY, the government has also prepared a number of other policies to support the smooth flow of homecoming during Lebaran. Among other things, lowering the ticket price of the plane, there is a 20 percent toll rate discount until the implementation of the work from anywhere (WFA) policy starting March 24, 2025.
According to AHY, these policies are an implementation of President Prabowo Subianto's direction to present a safe, comfortable and pleasant 2025 Lebaran homecoming.
"We, the assistants of the President, are trying our best to be able to carry out what is directed by President Prabowo Subianto. Including in the context of facing this year's Eid homecoming period, he also conveyed various policy efforts yesterday. Hopefully he can help the community," said AHY.
"So, the atmosphere in this holy month is getting better and in time the flow of homecoming as well as backflow can be safer, more comfortable and fun," he concluded.
