Convinced By Direct License, Anji: I've Been Doing It For More Than Three Years

JAKARTA - Anji as a member of the All-Indonesian Composter Association (AKSI), believes direct license is the right system to use in performing rights for live concerts.

As songwriters, Anji ensures that there are no difficulties in implementing direct license. The reason is, he has implemented the system in recent years.

"I have implemented this, it has practiced this, and it is not complicated. What is feared about the commotion, did not happen. I have been doing this for more than three years," said Anji while visiting the Ministry of Law in Kuningan, South Jakarta, Thursday, February 27.

Anji had a reason when choosing to apply direct license. According to him, this system is much more regular than the implementation of royalty payments currently being implemented in Indonesia.

"The easy one, who asks for permission from the artist or management of the artist. Because it is very easy and has been connected. If EO asks for permission, it will be difficult, because there are so many EOs that are not involved in the music industry, such as wedding events, exhibitions, pensi events, and others," said Anji.

So, what actually understands and is most connected to the creator is the artist or the one who uses the song from the creator. EO does not necessarily have a songwriter number, while from artists or management it is very easy, connected. From the ecosystem, it is very close," he continued.

In this regard, Piyu as the General Chair of ACTION explained that there was a misperception or misleading regarding the Copyright Law (UUHC) which has been understood by many people.

"I want to convey that actually the issue of copyright protection, especially for songwriters, has been going on for quite a long time here. And actually since the 2014 Copyright Law was passed, it has provided clear protection, but in the articles of the Copyright Law there are many who interpret it as wrong or misleading," concluded Piyu.
