Mexican Group Cancels Appearance After Accepting Death Threats
JAKARTA - A Mexican unit, Grupo Firme is prohibited from performing at an event held in Sinaloa. A threatening message appears through a banner that is not known who did it.
"Groupo Firme, if you play at Mazatlan Carnival, we will kill all of you. Remember that you live in your fire, so we will kill even those who put up the lights;" read the message on the banner, citing the Latin Times, Friday, February 28.
The threat made Music MVP Entertainment as a label, deciding to cancel Firme's involvement, which is scheduled to appear at Carnival Mazatlan on Saturday, March 1 tomorrow.
While no one claims ownership of the banner, the Latin Times says threatening messages are usually left by cartels that don't like the group in question, which is suspected to be due to links to other criminal organizations.
Firme is not the only one receiving threats. Several artists such as Natanael Cano, Peso Pluma, and Oscar Maydon also received similar messages.
The first threat came in January, which emerged in the form of a "narcomanta" (martel banner) at a high school in Hermosillo.

The banner reads: "Stay in your profession as a musician. It's not about singing coridos songs, it's about working together financially or through any illegal acts. If you ignore this warning, you will be executed. Att. Jalisco Mata Salaz."
Responding to the threat, Cano uploaded a picture on social media and expressed his opinion. "The only blanket that worries me right now. Do you think the blanket will keep me warm?"
On the other hand, Maydon, who received death threats in Aguascalientes, is scheduled to appear at the Palenque de la Feria de Aguascalientes alongside Sebasti total Cruz and Vawactor Mendivil on March 8. Due to the threat, the organizer announced that the concert had been canceled.
