Police Encourage People To Dare To Report Violence Against Children And Women

JAKARTA - The Directorate of Criminal Acts of Women and Children as well as the Criminal of Trafficking in Persons (PPA-PO) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police asked the entire community to dare to report alleged criminal acts against children and women. Thus, the problem can be handled properly.

The statement was made by the Director of PPA & PPO Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Nurul Azizah, when delivering his remarks at the #RiseAndSpeak campaign Kick Off Meeting which aims to create a safe, inclusive, and fair environment through increased awareness, courage to speak, and reporting gender-based violence, both in the form of physical, psychological, and economic and sexual violence.

"We encourage each individual to dare to speak up and report any acts of violence and injustice," said Nurul in his statement, Friday, February 28.

He said the campaign had several main missions, including educating the public to dare to report acts of violence, strengthening cross-sectoral synergies, and optimizing digital platforms as a broad and effective means of public education.

In addition, it also aims to increase public trust in the National Police and related agencies in handling cases of gender-based violence and human trafficking.

"One of the very important things is the empowerment of victims and perpetrators who are vulnerable groups. We want to provide capacity and independence to them through rehabilitation programs, psychosocial assistance, and economic empowerment," he said.

The #RiseAndSpeak campaign does not only cover educational activities through social and conventional media, but also involves various direct activities in the community, such as workshops, consultations with psychologists, and vent facilities for victims of violence.

One of the events that has been held is the workshop in Indramayu on February 6, 2025, which was attended by more than 200 people, including students, students, and community representatives.

In a series of upcoming programs, this campaign also involves various elements of society, including students, students, religious leaders, and law enforcement officials. One of the prominent activities is the "Ngabuburite with Millennial Santri" which will be held in March 2025, inviting students to dare to speak out against violence and crime.

"Through collaboration and mutual commitment, we can create real changes. Let's be part of this movement to build a safer, inclusive, and fairer Indonesia," said Nurul.
