Viral Video Of Fire At Cilacap Refinery, KPI Opens Voice

JAKARTA - PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional opened its voice regarding a viral video showing Pertamina's refinery that experienced a fire. The video shows a puff of black smoke rising from the tank in the Cilacap Refinery area.

Pjs. Area Manager Communication, Relations, & CSR of PT Pertamina International Refinery Unit Cilacap, Sunaryo Adi in his statement said that currently the Fire Team at the Cilacap Refinery moved quickly to deal with the flash that occurred in one of the tanks from the rest of the wedge during the implementation of the tank cleaning that was not actively used.

"This wedge cleaning activity is part of a periodic series of maintenance to ensure operational reliability and safety of refinery facilities," he said in a statement to the media, Thursday, February 27.

Adi said the blackout process was immediately carried out by spraying foam into the tank from all directions, both for extinguishing efforts and for outside the tank with the aim of cooling the tank.

Sludge cleaning, he said, is to remove deposits that can interfere with tank performance.

"This is to ensure the condition of the tank is in accordance with operational standards," Adi explained further.

Adi also said that the community has now been conditioned and informed regarding the conditions that occurred.

"The public is expected to remain calm and not panic, because the blackout team is trying their best to control the incident. The Cilacap team is currently focusing on making their best efforts to continue to control events," he continued.

Adi ensured that there were no casualties from this incident and currently the refinery is still operating normally and for fuel production there is no disruption.

"We ask for prayer support from the whole community so that the extinguishing efforts carried out can immediately handle the incident," said Adi.
