Potential Differences In Stipulation Of The Beginning Of Ramadan 2025, Minister Of Religion: Everyone Can Predict
Minister of Religion (Menag), Nasaruddin Umar said that all parties could predict the determination of the beginning of Ramadan 2025 or 1446 Hijriah.
This was conveyed in response to the potential for differences. This is because the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) predicts that the beginning of Ramadan will fall on March 2, 2025.
"Yes, everyone can predict, but the decision of the meeting determines tomorrow. If someone is watching the moon, why should it be postponed. If not, then we will discuss it," Nasaruddin told reporters, Thursday, February 27.
In addition, Nasaruddin also asked the public to be patient regarding the determination of the beginning of Ramadan. This is because the Ministry of Religion plans to hold an Isbat Session on Friday, February 28.
"Tomorrow we will have an isbat trial, tomorrow we will determine," he said.
The Isbat trial is an important moment for Muslims in Indonesia because it determines when fasting will start.
The Director General of Islamic Community Guidance at the Ministry of Religion, Abu Rokhmad, explained that the isbat session will be held at the HM Rasjidi Auditorium, Ministry of Religion, Central Jakarta.
As in previous years, this trial will involve various parties, including representatives of Islamic community organizations, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Falak experts, as well as representatives from the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Supreme Court.

The trial will go through three main stages. First, the presentation of the position of the hilal data based on astronomical calculations or reckoning. This data will provide an overview of the possibility of the hilal being seen on that day.
Second, verification of the results of rukyatul hilal carried out at various monitoring points throughout Indonesia. This process aims to ensure directly whether the hilal is really visible in Indonesian territory.
Third, deliberation and decision-making which will be officially submitted to the public.
Abu Rokhmad invites the whole community to be patient waiting for the results of the isbat session and the official announcement from the government regarding the initial determination of Ramadan 1446 Hijri. This is in line with the MUI fatwa Number 2 of 2004 which regulates the method of determining the beginning of Ramadan, Syawal, and Dzulhijjah.
"We hope that all Muslims in Indonesia can start Ramadan this year together, so as to create togetherness in carrying out fasting," he said.
