The Impact Of Severe Illness For Phil Collins No Longer Intending To Return To Music

JAKARTA - Phil Collins spoke openly about his health condition. The current serious illness has even made his desire to return to music no longer exists.

As is known, the British singer-songwriter revealed that he suffered from severe illness just three years after announcing his resignation from a live show in March 2022.

The decision to resign had to be taken because Collins, who is also a Genesis personnel, could hardly hold a drum stick anymore, after suffering a spinal cord injury in 2007.

His last concert with Genesis was held at the London O2 Arena. The show became Genesis' last concert and witnessed Collins' farewell to his fans.

"I kept thinking I should go down to the studio and see what happened, but I don't want to do it again," Collins said of his current condition, during an interview with Mojo.

His unfavorable health condition is the main reason that affects his thinking.

"The problem is, I am sick, I mean I am seriously ill," added the 74-year-old musician.

Through the documentary 'Phil Collins: Drummer First' released last December, Collins admits it's hard to accept the fact that he can't play drums anymore.

"I still can't accept it. I've spent my whole life playing drums. Suddenly not being able to do that was a surprise," he said.

"If I can't do what I'm doing as good as I do, I'd rather relax and don't do anything. However, if one day I wake up and can hold a pair of drum sticks, then I'll try it. However, I feel like I've spent my air travel distance. ."
