Review Album Badan Menmensch, Manifesto G-Dragon Yang Berkarya Tanpa Batas
JAKARTA - Guess who's back, It's your boy GD! The words were uttered by a man who was nicknamed the king of K-Pop through the comeback single PO
The work became an expression that exploded after seven years of Kwon Ji-yong's hiatus from music. In the end, eight magic tracks were collected on this album.
The term jbermensch itself is taken from the concept introduced by Nietzsche in his book, Thus Spoke Zarathustra in 1883. The word is interpreted as someone who has entered the highest phase in his life, where he grew up with his own values and character. In short, G-Dragon feels this work is a form of independence.
This year the leader of Big Bangang has separated from his label, YG Entertainment and is a member of EMPIRE, a label initiated by Palestinian musician, Ghazi Shami. With GD's various new things, it's no wonder that this album is very different from his previous works.
Home Sweet Home was chosen as the album opener, bringing strong, emotional and proud energy. This single is touted as a mini-reunion of BigBang because it involves Taeyang and Daesung with a short but memorable part.
After that, PO happened to be a more assertive message and criticism. The writing of the Korean money emblem in the title is the main theme, if power and power depend heavily on money. But with his genius creative side, he gave a twist to his lyrics which emphasized the importance of being yourself to gain strength.
SEE ALSO:
From the selection of sound and arrangement, G-Dragon seems to take a lot of references to classic R&B music, reminding the sound of K-Pop in the early 2000s era. He also applies the same thing on other tracks, especially TAKE ME, which will dig up VIP memories of songs at the beginning of BigBang's career.
Switching from one song to another, such as opening a candy box with various flavors. We never know what kind of taste we will get next. From a swag and arrogant track, moving on to gain fun and then being invited to condemn the crunch figure that applies arbitrarily, it's really a surprise journey.
On the other hand, G-Dragon is widely contained in this album, such as Too Bad, which Features Anderson.Paak, brings elegant music that makes his head and shoulders sway by itself. Then the track that also makes many fans fall in love, BONAMANA whose music is minimalist and prioritizes Jiyong's vocals whose timbre feels different.
Understandably, many things can happen during the seven years of vacuum. What is clear is that this album offers music from a free soul, thinkers and melancholic at the same time. The artist proved that he was a person who agreed with all his shortcomings and advantages, trying to express his head and heart through music as his canvas.
