Ahead Of Ramadan, DHarga Staples In Bogor City Are Relatively Stable
Bogor Mayor, Dedie A. Rachim, revealed that until now there have been no signs of an increase in demand for commodities and basic commodities.
Nevertheless, he reminded the need to anticipate market demand in the face of the month of Ramadan.
"Several commodities that are prone to increasing demand such as chili, onions, and cooking oil can affect market prices and have an impact on the inflation rate," he said on the sidelines of the regional head's retreat activity at Akmil Magelang, Wednesday, February 26.
Based on the results of field monitoring, prices and availability of basic commodities are still relatively stable, and the stock is still large in the market.
"Indeed, usually before the month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr there is an increase in prices. Alhamdulillah, now it is still normal. Don't let 'panic buying' occur, just buy and shop according to your needs," he said.
Meanwhile, the Acting Assistant for the Economy and Development of the Regional Secretariat (Sekda) of Bogor City, Rahmat Hidayat, emphasized the importance of cooperation between the government, business actors, and the community in maintaining price stability.
"We must ensure that the supply remains safe and prices remain under control so as not to burden the community," said Rahmat.
As a mitigation measure, the Bogor City Government together with the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) will hold various programs, including Cheap Market Operations and Cheap Food Movements.
In addition, Rahmat emphasized that the government will conduct sudden inspections (sidak) to the market to prevent the practice of hoarding basic commodities.
"We will continue to monitor and take firm action if it is found that the party is taking advantage of raising prices inappropriately," he said.
