West Papua National Narcotics Agency Arrests 3 Recidivists In Drug Smuggling Cases

MANOKWARI - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of West Papua Province managed to arrest three recidivist cases of smuggling marijuana and methamphetamine with the initials BD alias Dahai, HK alias Keke, and RP alias Resa.

Head of the West Papua BNN Eradication Division, Kombes I Ketut Widiarta, said that BD alias Dahai is a network of PNG-Jayapura marijuana smuggling controlled by JK.

Then the suspects HK Keke eyebrows and RP alias Resa, are a network of shabu-shabu smuggling which was controlled by the late RT alias Hakhayapi, a convict of Makassar Class I Prison, South Sulawesi.

"The suspect BD, ex-convict of Doyo Jayapura Prison, is released in 2021. HK and RP are ex-convicts of Sorong City Prison who are free in 2024," said Widiarta in Manokwari, Antara, Wednesday, February 26.

He explained that the arrest of suspect BD began when the BNN team received information about an attempt to smuggle marijuana from Jayapura to Manokwari using KM Sinabung.

BNN then coordinated with Manokwari Customs to tighten supervision in the seaport area, so that BD was successfully secured with evidence of 1 kilogram of marijuana.

"We arrested the suspect on February 2, 2025. We have confiscated 46 clear plastics containing dried marijuana," explained Widiarta.

He said the arrest of two methamphetamine dealers in Sorong City, Southwest Papua, began when BNN monitored the movement of the suspect RP alias Resa on January 26, 2025.

The BNN team conducted a search of the suspect's house RP alias Resa and found 15 clear plastics containing methamphetamine weighing 5.34 grams which are ready to be circulated in Sorong City.

"If HK alias Keke is arrested, it will be carried out after the development of the arrest of RP alias Resa. We found 6.96 grams of crystal methamphetamine belonging to HK," said Widiarta.

BNN ensnared BD with Article 114 paragraph (2) subsidiary Article 111 paragraph (2), while HK and RP were charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) subsidiary Article 112 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009.

Dalam beleid tersebut, sanksi hukum yang diperoleh ketiga tersangka dalam kasus peredaran gelap narkoba jenis ganja maupun sabu-sabu yaitu penjara maksimal selama 20 tahun.

"Ketiganya kami tahan di Rutan BNN Papua Barat untuk proses hukum lebih lanjut. Kasus ini masih dikembangkan untuk membongkar jaringannya," ujar Widiarta.

In the regulation, legal sanctions obtained by the three suspects in cases of illicit drug trafficking of marijuana and methamphetamine are a maximum imprisonment of 20 years.

"The three of us are detained at the West Papua BNN Detention Center for further legal proceedings. This case is still being developed to dismantle the network," said Widiarta.
