Malang City Police Chief Wanti-wanti Tengkulak Don't Play With Prices Ahead Of Ramadan

Malang City Police Chief Kombes Nanang Haryono stated that he did not hesitate to take firm action against anyone caught hoarding basic commodities, especially ahead of the 2025 Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr moments.

"We will not hesitate to take firm action, we really warn the middlemen not to play with prices," said Nanang at Madyopuro Market, Malang City, Antara, Wednesday, February 26.

Nanang stated that a firm stance was indeed taken to ensure that people get food in accordance with the provisions of prices in the market.

In addition, it also anticipates price spikes due to the progress of a food commodity during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

"We have profiled which tengkulak is playing, where are the goods from and all of them have been caught," he said.

Therefore, Malang City Police have now prepared efforts to anticipate efforts to hoard basic commodities by irresponsible parties.

"If it is true to hoard, we will not hesitate to act. This is done for the sake of the community," he said.

In addition, to ensure the price stability of basic commodities ahead of Ramadan, Malang City Police also strengthen collaboration with the local government.

The Malang City Government (Pemkot) already has a mechanism in suppressing the potential for inflation, through a low-cost market scheme.

"So that prices in Malang City do not increase, of course there are efforts to reduce," he said.

Malang City Police together with the local municipal government and DPRD have reviewed the condition of prices for basic commodities at Madyopuro Market, Tawangmangu Market, and Blimbing Market, today.

Malang City DPRD chairman Aminthya Ratnanggani said he found problems with the supply of rice commodities experienced by traders in the market.

"Especially for rice supply, we have coordinated it with Bulog," said Amithya.

Regarding the implementation of the cheap market, his party will coordinate with the Malang City Government to discuss the pattern of implementing the agenda.

"We discussed it again together for the cheap market," he said.

Deputy Mayor of Malang Ali Muthohirin added that the stability of basic food prices during Ramadan to Eid al-Fitr is the main focus that continues to be pursued.

"Hopefully the fasting month will not increase the prices of basic commodities and availability will remain," he said.
