Wika Salim Admits He Is Often Blasphemed, But Remains Grateful As A Dangdut Singer

JAKARTA - As a dangdut singer, Wika Salim admitted that he was used to various comments from netizens, both supportive and criticizing. He realized that blasphemy was part of his career in the entertainment industry.

"Lumayan (dihujat). Yes, there is (he blasphemed), actually there is always a case in my post that there must be pros, some are cons," said Wika Salim, quoted by VOI from YouTube Trans7 Official, Wednesday, February 26.

One stigma that is often attached to dangdut singers is the assumption that this profession is always synonymous with sexy appearances and distinctive wobblings. Wika also admitted that she had also been labeled negative because of this.

"Yes, if it exists (said ugly as a dangdut singer), especially since dangdut can't be separated from its sexy, rocking image," said Wika.

Despite facing various negative comments, Wika is still grateful for his career journey. He admitted that he had not bought large assets from his work, but still felt very blessed.

"Not yet (to buy assets), but thank God. Right, right, thank God, but thank God the sustenance will be a blessing," he said.

In addition, he also felt proud even though he was blasphemed as a singer, he was still trusted to appear at various events, including abroad.

"And thank God I also arrived at (invited) events abroad, thank God I was also trusted," said Wika.
