Regarding Allegations Of Corruption In BJB Rises To Investigation, KPK Director: Wait For Release

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that the investigation into the alleged corruption in the placement of advertising funds at PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Barat and Banten (BJB) Tbk, was immediately escalated to investigation. The announcement will be made at the right time.

"We'll wait for the release, yes, the date will be mentioned later," said KPK Investigation Director Asep Guntur Rahayu to reporters quoted on Wednesday, February 26.

Asep said that the submission to the KPK leadership for approval to increase the status of the case to investigation had been carried out. This case will certainly be thoroughly investigated and not transferred to other law enforcement officers (APH).

"So we have submitted it. Later if there is another APH, ask, (an answer, ed) 'Sir, it's the same with the KPK, okay? Let it not be published there,' he said.

The KPK previously revealed that it was handling allegations of corruption in the alleged corruption in the placement of advertising funds by PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Barat and Banten Tbk (BJB). According to the information received, there were five people suspected of being involved, with details of two coming from internal parties and three being private.

This case was worked on during the 2019-2024 KPK leadership period. Nurul Ghufron, who at that time served as Deputy Chair of the KPK, ensured that the handling of alleged corruption at the regional bank would continue even though his term of office would soon be completed.

"This is only a matter of administrative processes. Substantially, what has been exposed means that the material is sufficient to be then lifted and followed up on the investigation," said Ghufron, quoted on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
