Residents Prohibited From Going Home, The Task Force Asks Cellular Operators To Strengthen Networks To Make Videocall Smooth
JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the Task Force (Task Force) Handling COVID-19 Wiku Adisasmito again emphasized that going home on this year's Eid is prohibited for all people.
For this reason, Wiku asked mobile operators to strengthen internet networks during the month of Ramadan until Eid al-Fitr 1442 Hijriah to support online community friendships such as video calls (videocall).
"The government asks all telecommunications operators to provide quality and affordable communication services so that people who want to stay in touch in a virtual way can do it well," Wiku said in a YouTube broadcast of the Presidential Secretariat, Thursday, April 22.
Wiku understands that going home is a tradition that is inherent in Indonesian society. Homecoming is a moment of mutual benefit to the family, especially for parents.
However, Wiku emphasized that even though travelers during homecoming had negative COVID-19 test results before traveling, this did not guarantee that they would avoid the corona virus.
"Even though the community already has a negative test result letter, it does not mean that they are completely free from COVID-19. The opportunity to be infected on a trip to their hometown is always open," said Wiku.
If this happens, it will endanger the family back home. Parents, if they catch COVID-19, are at risk of severe symptoms. Remember, they are a vulnerable group.
"For our elderly families, this is of course a very dangerous risk. The government asks the public to act wisely in response to this pandemic, friendship with families in their hometowns can be done virtually by utilizing communication technology," he explained.
