Optimistic That Indonesia Can Create AI Rivals DeepSeek, Deputy Minister Of Communication And Digi: Depends On Digital Talenta

Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria assessed that the plan of the Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan to recruit young people to create AI such as DeepSek was a good idea.

Because according to him, Indonesia must also become an important player in Southeast Asia in the development of artificial intelligence technology, both in terms of digital talent and infrastructure.

"I think Pak Luhut's idea is also very good, so that we can become important players, at least champions in Southeast Asia, become AI hub centers for the development of digital talent and also infrastructure," said Nezar on Tuesday, February 24 in Jakarta.

Nezar also believes that the development of AI in Indonesia may be realized, as long as the country's digital talent is ready to build the innovation.

He believes that Indonesia's digital talent is able to follow in China's footsteps which has been able to create DeepSek, considering that Indonesia and China are starting the same first steps.

"Oh, it really depends on the digital talent we have, because the point is on digital talent," he explained.

Nezar also said that China's digital talents were able to develop AI to date, because they had learned a lot of knowledge from other countries. After that, they returned to China with this science, and produced AI that matched the country's needs.

"If we look at DeepSee, it was developed by a homerown talent, so it is indeed a talent that grows and grows in China itself. Of course they learn from various parts of the world, but then they bring that knowledge, develop it and solve critical problems that exist in AI development," he said.

Similar support has also been carried out by the government. The Deputy Minister of Communication and Trade stated that the Ministry of Communication and Digitology has established a Digital Talent Center (DTC) to train Indonesians in the field of technology, including AI.

In addition, Komdigi also provides certification to support the absorption of digital talents in related industries so that later they have real work experience.

"So there is a transfer of knowledge process, transfer of skills as well, this is useful for strengthening our talents in the future," concluded Nezar.
