Implementing Good Mining Practice, Antam Wins Two Gold Propers

JAKARTA - PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM) or Antam again obtained two Golden Ranks in the Company's Performance Ranking Program in Environmental Management (Proper) 2024 organized by the Ministry of Environment. At an award handed over directly by the Minister of Environment Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, Antam won the Golden Ranking through the Gold Mining Business Unit (UBP) and UBP Bauxite West Kalimantan.

President Director of Antam Nico Kanter explained that the two Golden Ranks in the 2024 PROPER Environmental Award are clear evidence of the implementation of sustainability in Companies through the performance of environmental and social management around the operating area which has a real impact on the community.

"The implementation of business operations based on good mining practices by prioritizing the principles of safety and work health is Antam's commitment. In order to achieve sustainability, we also consistently carry out ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices in all business units to ensure that ANTAM's operations provide benefits to the community and the environment," Nico said in his statement, Wednesday, February 26.

Nico explained that the Gold Award for the 2024 Environmental Award was won by UBP Emas through the Cisarua Sundung Program with an econovation program for the use of non-B3 rubber waste for repairing factory equipment so as to create economic circulars and help answer social challenges due to the activities of Unlicensed Gold Miners (PETI) by creating new job opportunities and increasing competence in raising sheep.

"Through the Cisarua Sundung Program, Antam seeks to increase operational innovation that has an impact on the environment, as well as embrace the community to increase economic independence by utilizing regional potential," he added.

Meanwhile, UBP Bauxite West Kalimantan won the Gold Proper through the Aek Kapuas Program by ekomirating the use of used tire waste to strengthen mining roads and social innovation in the form of utilizing empty lot waste and organic waste into fertilizer.

We made Tankpos products which are fertilizers that utilize empty bunch waste and organic waste to be used by farmers who are members of Antam's fostered partners around the West Kalimantan UBP Bauxite operating area. The Aek Kapuas program itself has empowered 235 people, the majority of whom are women, "said Nico.

In addition to the Golden Ranking, Antam also won one Green Rank in the 2024 Proper Environment Award through UBP Nickel North Maluku. The company also won Blue Rankings through the Logam Mulia Processing and Purification Business Unit (UBPP), as well as its subsidiaries PT Gag Nickel and PT Nusa Karya Arindo.
