6.0 M Earthquake In North Sulawesi, Vibrations Can Be Felt In Gorontalo To Manado
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) detected an earthquake of 6.0 magnitudes rocked Manado City, and a number of other areas in North Sulawesi, on Wednesday, February 26 morning.
In an early warning posted through the infoBMKG application system quoted by ANTARA, it was reported that the epicenter was located at sea at a depth of 10 kilometers or 45 kilometers southeast of Tutuyan, East Bolaang Mongondow.
The earthquake was detected at 06.55 WITA shaking a number of areas for a while with an intensity scale of IV-III MMI (vibrationality felt real in the house and felt as if a truck had passed).
Among others, in the areas of Bolaang Mongondow Timur (IV MMI), Bolaang Mongondow Selatan (III), Manado (III MMI), Minahasa (III MMI) North Minahasa (IIIMMI), Kotamobagu (III MMI), North Gorontalo (III MMI), and Gorontalo (IIIMMI).
The exact trigger for the earthquake is not yet known. However, based on the temporary analysis of the seismological BMKG, the earthquake certainly did not have the potential for a tsunami.
