Carlos Santana Introduces Retrospective Albums Involving Michael Jackson To Miles Davis

JAKARTA - Carlos Santana is preparing to release his retrospective album titled Sentient. The album will be released via Candid Records on March 28.

Santana's upload on Instagram features snippets of several songs that will be included in the album 'Sentient', complete with the collaborator's name for each song.

"We are delighted to announce the upcoming release of 'Sentient'," wrote Carlos Santana, citing the caption of the post, Tuesday, February 25.

The album will feature 11 songs of passion with legendary collaborators, such as Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson, Miles Davis, Paolo Rustichelli, ani's 'DMC' McDaniels, and Cindy Blackman Santana.

The work presented consisted of remastered songs and three new songs that had never been released before. Everything is sorted in such a way that it allows the emergence of new stories.

The songs that make up "Sentient" have a complicated composition, but flow just like a dream. Whatever the mood or genre it is, whether it's a luxurious pop or an intense cosmic jazz everything is part of the same common thread.

As Santana once said, "From Stravinsky to James Brown, everything is the same song, meaning that everything is connected to the umbilical cord of humans and planet Earth."

The collaboration with Smokey Robinson on "Please Don't Take Your Love" is the first single to be released and can be heard on digital streaming platforms.

The original version in 2009 shows Santana contrasting Robinson's vibrato with a thrilling solo.

The latest version of "Sentient" is heartbreaking, but as Santana notes, this version features an unprecedented guitar game.

"I went to the studio and did my own thing," he said. "I said, 'Let's just do it.' I did another version with Smokey guiding me. Smokey liked both of them, so he ended up combining the two. The one in 'Sentient' was the first version."

On March 14th it will be the first launch of the instrumental version of 'Stranger In Moscow', a ballad from Michael Jackson recorded in 2007.
