Kapendam Mulawarman: The Incident At The Tarakan Police Was Just A Misunderstanding

TARAKAN Kodam VI/Mulawarman confirmed that the incident at the Tarakan Police which allegedly involved members of the TNI on Monday, February 24, was a misunderstanding. Currently, the situation in Tarakan City is certainly safe and conducive.

Kapendam VI/Mulawarman, Colonel Kav Kristiyanto, explained that the incident occurred at around 23.30 WITA and involved several members of the Assignment Assistance for the Battalion 614/RJP Task Force.

Following up on the incident, Kodam VI/Mulawarman moved quickly by coordinating with Korem 092/Maharajalila and Brigif 24/Bulungan Cakti. Mediation has also been carried out with the Tarakan Police to prevent further escalation.

"Danyonif 613/Raja Alam has held an extraordinary rally and examined personnel suspected of being involved. In addition, intensive coordination between Danrem 092/Maharajalila, Danbrig 24/Bulungan Cakti, as well as Dandim 0907/Tarakan continues to be carried out in order to maintain the solidity of the TNI-Polri in North Kalimantan," Kasimanto said in his statement, Tuesday, February 25. Kapendam confirmed that this incident was not an attack on a police institution, but a misunderstanding between individuals.

"The TNI and Polri remain solid in maintaining security and order in North Kalimantan, including Tarakan City," he said.

Kristiyanto also stated that his party continues to monitor developments in the situation and ensures that the settlement is carried out professionally.

Currently, all personnel involved in the Assignment Assistance have been consolidated and underwent examination according to military procedures.

He appealed to the public to remain calm and not be provoked by unverified information.

"We make sure this incident does not affect the synergy between the TNI and Polri in maintaining security stability in the region," he concluded.
