Three Years Of Russian Invasion, President Zelensky Praises The Heroism And Sacrifice Of The Ukrainian People
JAKARTA - President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the heroism and sacrifice of the Ukrainian people during the three-year Russian invasion of the country on Monday.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a special military operation into Ukrainian territory with the aim of demilitarizing and denazification on February 24, 2022.
The rapid movement of Russian troops was hampered near Kyiv, bringing into a prolonged war, with last August Ukraine capable of carrying out cross-border attacks on Russian territory in Kursk, the country's first cross-border attack since World War II.
In a post on X's social media accounts marking three years of the Russian invasion, President Zelensky has thanked the Ukrainian people for the heroism since the war broke out.
"Three years of resistance. Three years of gratitude. Three years of heroism is absolutely the people of Ukraine. I am proud of Ukraine!", he tweeted on social media X, as quoted Monday, February 24.

"Hopefully the memories of everyone who has sacrificed their lives for our country and people are eternal," he continued.
In a previous post on the same social media, President Zelensky wrote, every day the Ukrainian people face air terror. Ahead of the three-year anniversary of the invasion, Russia launched 267 drones against Ukrainian territory, becoming the largest since drones hit Ukrainian cities and villages, President Zelensky said.
"In total, nearly 1,150 drones, more than 1,400 guided aerial bombs, and 35 different types of missiles launched this week," President Zelensky wrote.
"I thank everyone who wards off such attacks every day, aviation forces, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and groups of Air Force and Defense Force moving shooters," he wrote.
"I also thank those who are on the ground who saved lives and responded to the impact of the shooting, State Emergency Services, medical officers and the National Police," he added.
With the war continuing, President Zelensky hopes everyone who can afford to help with air defenses to increase protection.
"We must do everything possible to bring lasting and fair peace to Ukraine," he wrote.
"This can be achieved through the unity of all partners, we need the power of all Europe, the power of America, the power of all those seeking eternal peace," President Zelensky continued.
Ukraine and the United States have experienced some dynamics in recent times, as US President Donald Trump moved quickly to establish communication with Russia last week and plans to resume this week.
At the same time, President Zelensky and President Trump 'attacked each other' last week even though it has recently subsided.
"The Ukrainian people have taken a long journey. And this year, we must do everything possible and impossible to achieve true peace, peace with security guarantees for our country, with a guarantee of dignity and respect for all our people, for anyone who has lived, lived, and will live in Ukraine," he tweeted.
