Alibaba Will Invest IDR 854 Trillion For AI And Cloud For The Next Three Years

Alibaba revealed an investment plan of around 380 billion yuan or around Rp854.4 trillion, for cloud computing infrastructure and artificial intelligence over the next three years.

The Chinese company has plans to invest in the sector when announcing its revenue on Friday, February 21, 2025. However, there are no exact figures of investment.

However, Alibaba said the total amount of its investment would exceed the company's spending on AI technology and their cloud computing over the past decade.

In the company's fourth quarter 2024 financial result report, Alibaba said that they had succeeded in developing both AI-based innovation and in recovering or accelerating their main business.

Our Cloud revenue growth again reached double digits by 13 percent, with AI-related product revenues achieving triple-digit growth for the sixth quarter in a row, Eddie Wu, Chief Executive Officer of Alibaba Group, said in the report.

Going forward, Eddie believes that revenue growth at the AI-driven Cloud Intelligence Group will continue to increase.

"We will continue to implement our strategic priorities in e-commerce and cloud computing, including further investment to drive long-term growth," he added.

Alibaba's commitment to AI is also getting more solid. Recently, Alibaba partnered with Apple in expanding the Apple Intelligence feature, which will be launched for compatible iPhone users in China.

Apple deliberately chose Alibaba because of the company's data. As an e-commerce giant in China, Alibaba can recognize the habit of shopping and paying users. This is considered to help train AI models and provide the right service for iPhone users.
