BaimSandhy Live Showcase Review: Intimate Show From Music Projects That Had Postponed
JAKARTA - Baim and Sandhy Sondoro once had a music project together six years ago. They collaborated through the song I've Had Enough With Love, which was released in November 2019, but the pandemic that came in a matter of months where the music industry had so many difficulties that the Baim and Sandhy projects could not be heard.
Through a performance titled BaimSandhy Live Showcase which was held at Badminton & Co. Studios, West Jakarta on Friday, February 21 evening, the two of them completed what had been delayed.
Baim and Sandhy in 2019 already had a single (collaboration). At that time there was a promo on several radios, and finally had to stop because of the pandemic. In fact, at that time we had several schedules to play in cafes in Semarang and Jakarta, but in the end it had to be canceled. So, we are trying kick off now," said Baim.
This show marks the potential for other collaborations to come. As Baim and Sandhy say, this collaboration is a project aimed at having fun together.
Baim And Sandhy's Appearance
Baim and Sandhy opened the show by performing the song 'Fly Away' by Lenny Kravitz. Intensity has been shown from the start. With a twisty rhythm, the two collided to improvise Baim with the guitar and Sandhy with his vocals.
After the initial repertoire, the show continued with Baim who took over the main vocals to perform Ough!!, the song Ada Band on the album ADAsan 2000 (1999). Then Sandhy took over the main vocals while performing Bruce Night, the hit of the self-titled album in 2010.
The show was intimate. The whole bench was filled with spectators and invited guests. On the sidelines of his performance, Baim and Sandhy also threw jokes at each other, which made the whole room laugh. Not infrequently, the audience followed the second joke.

Furthermore, Baim and Sandhy invite viewers to reminisce with English-language ballad songs, such as Michael Bolton's 'How Am I Suspended To Live Without You', Cyndi Lauper's Time After Time, 'If You Go Away' from New Kids On The Block, and Chicago's You're The Inspiration.
The audience was also carried away with the songs performed. They participated in singing the song's verses. The admiration was also shown when Baim died with his melodic guitar playing, or when Sandhy managed to reach difficult notes and helped back improvising.
This show is of course supported by the rhythm section which plays well. Rio Manuel (keyboards, organs), Jupiter (bass), and Filipus Cahyadi (drums) are the perfect backgrounds to make Baim and Sandhy the shining stars on stage.
Satisfied with nostalgia, Baim and Sandhy also introduced their only collaborative song, I've Enough With Love.
"In 2019, we have made a project, but in the end it has to stop because of the pandemic. In 2025 we meet again, and we will continue the project. Thank God, the kick off is here, and it's a success," said Baim.
"Yes, this is our single in 2019, and now we are just promoting," said Sandhy, greeted by laughter from the audience.
Although the song still sounds foreign, Baim and Sandhy appear as if carrying a mandatory setlist. With a strong blues melody, they keep the audience enjoying their music even though they don't sing together.
Entering the end of the repertoire, Baim introduced one of Bernard Oattes' songs entitled 'Throw Your Tears to The Wind'. Then, Sandhy, who finally played the acoustic guitar, performed his song entitled 'Tiba-Tiba Cinta'.
The intimate show, which has been running for more than an hour, was well closed by showing a hit from Mr. Big entitled 'To Be With You'. The whole audience did not want to miss singing.
The performance of Baim and Sandhy who were so close to the audience made the show feel so short. The audience also wanted one more song, until finally 'Papa Rock N Roll' from The Dance Company was shown as the end of the BaimSandhy Live Showcase' celebration.
Mourning ACacoustic Room
The night show went on very intimate not without reason there is no boundary between the performer and the audience. And what makes it perfect, the acoustics of the room are so supportive.
Both & Co. Studios with a capacity of 100-150 spectators, was chosen by Baim and Sandhy because it allows intimacy and provides good energy for performers and spectators.
"This time we can't bring in more spectators because the studio capacity is limited. But this is full, yes, we are also happy, we are happy with intimate showscases," said Baim.
Sandhy did not even hesitate to praise the acoustic quality of the room, where their live showcase performances were also recorded.
Ini salah satu tempat terbaik di mana saya pernah main. Studio ini (mungkin) yang terbaik di dunia, menurut saya, ujar Sandhy
"Yes, I've never met an acoustic like this," said Baim.
Meanwhile, Danny I. Candra as the owner ofTENd & Co. Studios said the studio, which is intended for live recording, has only been operating since last year. Although the quality was praised by Baim and Sandhy, the owner said that the studio design, which stands in the three shophouses, uses materials that are not too complicated.
"The material used is actually very simple, everything is still wearing a hebel, but we cover it with rockwool so that it absorbs its sound immediately, continues to be covered with wood and cloth," Danny said, met after the show.
With the help of Bonar Abraham (The Bakuucakar), Danny made a room design that took inspiration from Studio Lokananta in Solo and Abbey Road in London.
As a live recording studio, Danny said, watch & Co. Studios has worked on several well-known musician projects, including Barry Likumahuwa, AIB Show (Ade totaling, Yoiqball, and Hebrew Pandean), Jordan Susanto, to Joey Alexander.
"Initially this was the hall room for our music school below. But because of Covid, it was used as a studio. Since then, we have continued to push this," he concluded.
