KPK Chairman Concerning Yasonna's Opportunities Called After Hasto Detained: According To Investigators' Needs

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Setyo Budiyanto said that the summoning of witnesses in the bribery case for the management of interim replacement (PAW) members of the DPR RI and the obstruction of the investigation that ensnared the Secretary General of PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto was carried out according to the needs of investigators.

This was conveyed by Setyo when asked about the opportunity to summon the former Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) during the era of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Yasonna H. Laoly for the second time. The PDIP politician was summoned by investigators on December 18, 2024.

"The summons is according to the needs of the investigators," said Setyo to reporters quoted on Monday, February 24.

As for Yasonna, Setyo explained that at a press conference in Hasto's detention last week, KPK investigators had been summoned to explain several things. First, regarding the PDIP DPP fatwa which was sent to the Supreme Court (MA) related to extortion.

"Regarding the examination of high-ranking officials in the party environment for their interests, of course it is related to the first one being to the letter that was sent at that time, yes, of course investigators have the need to be able to clarify what the letter is intended for, what it means, so that from there it can become a series and to clarify the position case being handled," said Setyo to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, February 20.

Then, investigators investigated the crossing of former PDIP candidate Harun Masiku in 2020. "It was confirmed whether the alleged bribery was the act, at that time that the position concerned was already in Indonesia, more precisely already in Jakarta or not yet entered, so it was not only the person concerned, including the Director General of Immigration, the former who had been summoned and examined by investigators," explained the former KPK Director of Investigation.

Previously reported, the KPK developed an interim replacement bribery (PAW) case that ensnared former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan and his fugitive, Harun Masiku. Two people were later named as suspects, namely PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah who are PDIP cadres as well as lawyers.

Hasto is also a suspect in the obstruction of the investigation. He is suspected of trying to obstruct the legal process, one of which is by asking Harun to damage his cellphone and run away after the arrest operation (OTT) was carried out.

Recently, Hasto has been detained for the first 20 days at the KPK detention center. The detention was held on Thursday, February 20 and could be extended according to the needs of investigators.

Meanwhile, Donny Tri Istiqomah has not been arrested. However, investigators have examined him on February 3.
