Tourism Village In China Apologizes For Fake Snow From Kapas And Air
JAKARTA - The tourist village in Sichuan Province, China, which is famous for its beautiful snow view, said it regretted using cotton and soap water to make fake snow, after drawing criticism from visitors and went viral.
In a post on his official Wechat account on February 8, the Snow Village project Chengdu said, during the Lunar New Year holiday at the end of January, warm weather and snow village did not form as expected.
China faces hotter and longer heat waves as well as more frequent and unpredictable heavy rains as a result of climate change, the country's weather bureau warned.
"To create an 'appropriate' atmosphere, the tourist village bought cotton for snow. But it did not achieve the expected effect, thus leaving a very bad impression on tourists who came to visit," Snow Village project Chengdu said in the statement.
"Following the precedent of previous years, it usually snows in winter. So, we prepared this place for a photo shoot first while waiting for the snow to fall," a staff member told the government-run Global Times.
"However, this year, the weather is unfavorable and does not snow," he added.
Photos on Wechat show large cotton cloth strewn across the yard, covering only part of the leafy area. Thick snow sheets appear to blanket the houses in the zone, but as you get closer, they are all made of cotton, a netizen said.
"Snow village without snow," said another user.
