7 Indonesian Citizens Detained In Theft Case At The Oil Pavilion In Terengganu, Malaysia
The Terengganu State Maritime Service has detained seven Indonesian citizens (WNI) who are suspected of trying to break into and steal at an uninhabited oil platform in Terengganu waters, Malaysia.
Director of the Terengganu State Maritime Captain Mohd Khairulanuar Abdul Majid said the Terengganu State Maritime Operations Center (PUSOP) received information from the Petronas Security Group regarding the incident of construction at an uninhabited oil platform in the Tembikai oil field (CPP TEMBIKAI).
The incident took place at a position of 77 nautical miles east of Kuala Terengganu on Wednesday (19/2), at 13.30 pm Malaysian time.
Abdul Majid said the operating team detected signs of the platform being infiltrated and saw someone hiding in the power plant room during routine checks.
In order to follow up on the complaint, KM RAWA, who was carrying out Operation IMAN's duties, was arranged to move to the location, and arrived at the scene at 21.00 to immediately carry out physical monitoring in the platform area.
Due to the dark conditions and strong waves that could endanger personnel, Abdul Majid said the search team together with the new platform operating crew could board the platform on Thursday (20/2), at 11.30 noon.
Captain Khairulanuar said the inspection found the platform in a mess due to the demolition, with disconnected cable marks, piles of batteries, food containers, and equipment used, namely cable cutting, a set of fitting keys, and ropes.
As a result of further investigation, members of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency found seven suspects, Indonesian citizens aged between 25 and 45, hiding in an oil teller's airway (ventilation).
