The Constitutional Court Breaks The Fate Of 40 Cases Of Dispute In The Regional Head Elections Next Monday Next Week
JAKARTA - The Constitutional Court (MK) will decide the fate of 40 cases of dispute over the election results (PHPU) of regional heads or regional election disputes in 2024 which will continue to the evidentiary stage on Monday, February 24, 2025.
Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau of the Constitutional Court Pan Mohamad Faiz said that the final plenary session will begin at 08.00 WIB in the Court Building I Session Room, Jakarta.
"The trial will be chaired by the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Suhartoyo along with eight other constitutional judges," said Faiz as quoted by ANTARA.
The Constitutional Court originally registered 310 PHPU2024 cases. In its development, the Constitutional Court expressed a dissal decision regarding whether or not a case ran aground on Tuesday (4/2) and Wednesday (5/2).
Based on the decision, only 40 cases were continued to the evidentiary trial, while another 270 cases were stopped with details of 227 cases unacceptable, 29 cases withdrawn, 8 cases killed, and 6 cases decided not under the authority of the Constitutional Court.
Faiz explained the trial for the follow-up trial of 40 cases from 7 to 17 February 2024.
During this time, the Court held a trial of evidence with the agenda of hearing witnesses and experts as well as examining and ratifying additional evidence.
The trial of evidence was held using a panel method. There are three panels consisting of three constitutional judges each. A total of 15 follow-up cases were examined in Panel I, 13 cases in Panel II, and 12 cases in Panel III.
Panel I was led by Suhartoyo with Daniel Yusmic P. Foekh and M. Guntur Hamzah, Panel II led by Saldi Isra with Ridwan Mansyur and Arsul Sani, while Panel III was led by Arief Hidayat with Anwar Usman and Enny Nurbaningsih.
"In the trial, the Constitutional Court has given the opportunity to each party to present witnesses and/or experts. In addition, the Constitutional Court has also summoned other parties needed to be heard regarding various issues that are being investigated," he said.
Faiz further ensured that the verdict hearing at the beginning of next week did not exceed the deadline for resolving regional election dispute cases determined by law, which was 45 days from the time the case was registered.
