Challenged By Hasto To Check Allegations Of Corruption By Jokowi's Family, KPK Chairman: Please Report Bring Documents
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Setyo Budiyanto said people who know about allegations of corruption can complain to his institution. However, the complaint must be accompanied by evidence.
This was conveyed by Setyo in response to the Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto who asked the KPK to examine the family of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who was suspected of corruption.
This statement was made after the politician was detained as a suspect in the bribery case for the interim replacement (PAW) of members of the DPR and the obstruction of the investigation on Thursday, February 20.
"Everyone, if they know of information on alleged criminal acts, please report by bringing documents," said Setyo to reporters, Friday, February 21.
Setyo said that after the complaint came in, the KPK would process it. "Furthermore, it will be verified and validated according to applicable regulations," said the former KPK Director of Investigation.
When he was taken to the detention car, Hasto asked the KPK not to indiscriminately enforce the law. He urged the KPK to dare to uncover various corruption cases, including conducting examinations of the families of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi)
"Hopefully this will be a momentum for the Corruption Eradication Commission to enforce the law without exception, including examining Pak Jokowi's family," Hasto told reporters at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada.
Hasto said that his position as Secretary General of the Party must have political consequences, including criminalization. So, he was not surprised when he became a suspect and was detained by the KPK.
"As Secretary General of the PDI-P, I with my head held high are ready to accept any consequences for our Greater Indonesia, because Indonesia was built with the sacrifice of soul and body. We are a country of fighters," he said.
"So I never regret it, I will continue to fight with the fire of the burning spirit," concluded Hasto.
