Chelsea Director: Enzo Maresca 100 Percent Safe From Dismissal

JAKARTA - Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is 100 percent safe from being sacked this season despite her declining performance.

Maresca, upon arrival from Leicester City, enjoyed the start of a good life in west London. Chelsea brought her to compete with Liverpool and Arsenal in the race for the Premier League title ahead of Christmas.

However, since beating Brentford on December 15, 2024, Chelsea have only won two of the nine league games.

In the last match, they were even defeated by Brighton & Hove Albion 0-3.

Chelsea is known not to give the coach flexibility in the past. However, when the Blues dropped to sixth in the standings and left the Champions League position, Director Jonathan Goldstein became the first member of the club board to publicly support Maresca.

"He did a great job. Chelsea started the season very well. The last six weeks, you know, have found a bit more of their foothold."

"However, Enzo has clearly done a great job of bringing the team together, bringing those talents," Goldstein said on Bloomberg TV.

When asked if Maresca would last until the end of the season, Goldstein replied: "100%."

Chelsea will face Aston Villa on Sunday, February 23, 2025, early morning WIB, in a match that could have a major impact on their hopes in next season's Champions League.

Indeed, during the strong start of the season, Maresca emphasized that Chelsea were not ready to challenge for the title and focused on finishing in the top four.
