Invite French Investors To Invest, Rosan Showcases Renewable Energy Potential In Indonesia
JAKARTA - Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Investment Coordinating Agency (BKPM) Rosan Perkasa Roeslani received a visit from 35 delegations of French companies who are members of the international employers' association from France (MEDEF International).
On this occasion, Rosan said that French investors had a great opportunity to develop the renewable energy sector in Indonesia.
Rosan said that the potential for renewable energy in Indonesia reaches around 3,700 gigawatts and only 1 percent is utilized, or around 13.08 gigawatts.
According to him, this potential is spread across various regions, with the largest potential coming from solar energy, to a geothermal potential of 23 gigawatts which is the largest in the world.
"The key is to meet, discuss potential, and at the same time find a way so that this potential becomes an investment. Moreover, today there are 35 representatives of French companies, this is a great opportunity to strengthen cooperation," said Rosan in his statement, Friday, February 21.
Rosan also emphasized the importance of concrete collaboration focusing on real opportunities so that this can accelerate the use of investment potentials so that they can be realized immediately.
"I believe this is a very good and productive meeting. Apart from explaining Indonesia's potential, we also get a lot of feedback that is useful for strengthening collaboration, both from the private sector to the government and inter-private. This is important so that we continue to improve existing policies and regulations," said Rosan.
French Ambassador to Indonesia, ASEAN and Timor Leste Fabien Penone conveyed the French government's commitment to encourage strengthening economic relations with Indonesia.
According to him, French companies have actively invested in various sectors in Indonesia, from nickel mining to banking. However, this can still be improved.
"Strengthening relations between France and Indonesia is our government's top priority. French President (Emmanuel) Macron and President Prabowo Subianto have discussed this several times. This is why this meeting is very important for French companies to get the opportunity to discuss with the Indonesian government," said Penone.
