Remind 481 Regional Heads After Being Inaugurated, House Of Representatives Commission III: No More Entangled In Corruption

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated 481 regional heads at the State Palace, Jakarta today, Thursday, February 20. Member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives Abdullah warned the new governors, regents, and mayors to maintain integrity and not commit criminal acts of corruption.

Abdullah said that so far many regional heads have not been able to maintain their integrity so that they are caught in corruption cases and are dealing with the KPK, the Attorney General's Office and the Police.

"This is a strong warning to the newly appointed regional heads. No one should fall into a corruption case," Abdullah said, Thursday, February 20.

According to KPK RI data, during 2004-2024, there were 167 regional heads in Indonesia who were caught in corruption cases. In addition, during 2004-2024, the Indonesian KPK also handled 618 corruption cases that occurred in district and city governments.

Therefore, Abdullah said, there should be no more regional heads dealing with law enforcers, for committing a criminal act of corruption.

Abdullah then congratulated the regional heads who were inaugurated today. According to him, the regional heads who have been inaugurated have struggled to win the elections democratically because they have followed the long process and stages of the regional elections, until they are determined as winners.

"I congratulate and congratulate the regional heads appointed by President Prabowo," Abdullah said.

The legislator from the Central Java VI electoral district said that the regional heads who were inaugurated were experienced in their respective fields. This experience provides provisions for leading regions, both provinces, districts, and cities.

He also assessed that there are many challenges and obstacles that will be faced in leading regions over the next five years. Regional heads, according to him, will also experience an integrity test as the number one person in the region.

"This integrity test is very difficult. Regional heads must maintain their integrity while leading the region," Abdullah said.
