Alwi Farhan Hopes It's Fit In European Tournaments
JAKARTA The men's singles badminton player, Alwi Farhan, hopes that he will be in good shape when he travels in European tournaments this month, especially at the German Open 2025 Super 300 BWF.
Alwi had a bit of a problem with the right ankle when helping Indonesia lift the title at the 2025 Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship (BAMTC) last week.
"There is a bit of a problem in the ankle section, but God willing, in a few days it will be resolved quickly," said the 2023 junior world champion at the PBSI Cipayung National Training Center on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
Alwi felt the ankle problem when he played in the semifinals against Thailand. He contributed points in the match and helped Indonesia win 3-1.

The 19-year-old badminton player returned to the final match against China. With that unsuitable condition, he was still able to secure a straight two-game victory.
Alwi admitted that when playing in the final match against the host, he forced himself to use pain relievers (painkillers) so he didn't feel too much pain.
"Yes, of course (stay playing in Europe). God willing, it will be fit and not too disturbing. Indeed, there is a bit of a feeling of trouble, but I will finish it here soon," he said.
On this year's tour calendar, Alwi has already played at the Indonesia Masters and Thailand Masters 2025. However, his journey in the two events is still far from satisfactory.
While playing at Istora, Alwi only felt the qualifying round. He lost at that stage against South Korean representative Jeon Hyeok-jin, thus failing to enter the main round.
As for appearing in Thailand, Alwi's journey could reach the quarter-finals. The 2023 junior world champion returned home in that phase after losing to the representative of Ireland, Nhat Nguyen.
