President Inaugurating Nugroho Sulistyo As Head Of BSSN, Asked To Focus On Maintaining Data Security

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated Nugroho Sulistyo Budi as Head of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), replacing Hinsa Siburian.

"As of the inauguration, Lieutenant General TNI Purnawirawan, Nugroho Sulistyo Budi, as Head of BSSN," wrote the Presidential Decree (Kepres) which was read out on Wednesday, February 19.

In carrying out this new task, Nugroho said that Prabowo emphasized BSSN to oversee the confidentiality of data integrity and availability, according to Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 4 of 2025 concerning One Economic and Social Data.

"So that BSSN is emphasized to be able to oversee the confidentiality of integrity and availability of data as it should be," said Nugroho after his inauguration.

According to Nugroho, so far, data differences have been a challenge. And with this policy, it is hoped that all stakeholders have the same data and are accurate as also conveyed by the Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

In addition, Nugroho also emphasized the importance of data protection as a shared responsibility. According to the new Head of BSSN, all parties must participate in maintaining their personal data.

"We need hard work and mutual concern. Because once again when we talk about cyber, talking about data is not only talking about systems, hardware but also awareness. What does that mean? Concern and behavior are safe," he said.

He also reminded that cyber attacks such as phishing and social engineering often exploit human errors in accessing or managing data. Therefore, it is important for digital literacy for the community to become.

"This is something to watch out for. So it is necessary to include media friends to literacy our citizens to care for and behave safely in using gadgets," he concluded.
