Five Months Launched, Disney Plus Reaches 50 Million Customers

JAKARTA - Just released for five months, Disney Plus claims to have 50 million paid subscribers worldwide as of April 8. Quoted from Variety, Thursday, Disney reported the addition of 21 million subscribers in just two months.

This acquisition was obtained after Disney Plus was released in European countries such as France, Austria, Italy, Germany and the UK. In the midst of a lockdown carried out by a number of countries in Europe, accessing services on demand has become the main choice for people who cannot travel.

In addition, Disney Plus has just been officially released in India. The response was the same, so that less than a week since it was released, it immediately grabbed eight million subscribers. Disney Plus has shown plans to reach 60 to 90 million subscribers by the end of 2024. With the current numbers, it looks like Disney Plus's target will be reached more quickly.

Not stopping there, Kevin Mayer - Disney director of Direct-to-Consumer and International - said Disney Plus will extend its expansion into Latin America and Japan. Disney party guarantees the success they get because the streaming industry is booming in use.

The corona virus pandemic has indeed abandoned a number of Disney-owned businesses, including the closing of a number of Disney theme parks in several countries. As one of the biggest sources of income, Disney certainly has to think of a strategy to keep it profitable.

Disney Plus is Disney's answer to remain competitive and earn money. The emergence of Disney Plus is a breath of fresh air amidst the rush of streaming on demand services. Bravely, Disney offers exclusive Disney and Marvel content for its customers. This means that this content is not always available on other streaming services.

Another strategy that Disney Plus takes is working with device providers to offer packages. In the United States, Disney Plus is working with Verizon to provide free access for one year starting late 2020. In India, streaming service Hotstar is partnering with Disney Plus for distribution. Hotstar subscribers will automatically be able to access all Disney Plus content.

This month, Disney Plus is planning a number of film and TV series releases, including Doctor Dolittle, Onward, the Star Wars series: The Clone Wars, and One Day at Disney.
