Denies There Is Politization, KPK Chairman Affirms Hasto's Case Of Pure Law Enforcement
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Setyo Budiyanto emphasized that the bribery case for the interim replacement management (PAW) and the obstruction of the investigation that ensnared the Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto was purely law enforcement. He denied any allegations of politicization.
"What the KPK is doing is law enforcement," Setyo told reporters quoted on Wednesday, February 19.
Complementing Setyo's statement, Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Johanis Tanak said that politicization, such as the accusation that the Hasto camp would not be carried out by his side. As a law enforcement officer (APH), the anti-corruption commission must work according to the rules.
"Law enforcement officers handling corruption cases are carried out based on legal rules and legal facts based on electronic evidence, witness statements, expert statements, defendant statements, and other evidence obtained," he said separately.
"So it's not based on political interests or criminalization," continued Johanis.
Previously reported, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto accused the KPK of targeting him, who has now been named a suspect in bribery and obstruction to the investigation of the Harun Masiku case. He considered that there was a political interest from one of the KPK investigators, namely Rossa Purbo Bekti, in investigating this case.
Rossa is suspected of intimidating related parties in the law enforcement process. "Why not only the targets, then the processes, to the point of unlawfully violating, were carried out by Rossa Purbo Bekti, who used the KPK for his narrow interests?" said Hasto at the PDIP DPP office, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, February 18.
Hasto also wondered if any particular party used this case through Rossa to make himself guilty in the Harun Masiku case.

Bearing in mind, the KPK has now named Hasto as a suspect in the bribery and obstruction of the investigation based on the adequacy of the evidence that was only owned from the case 5 years ago.
"On this occasion I asked, who is behind the investigator, Rossa? So that the KPK institution, it looks like other cases, and then this has been re-processed by ignoring the criminal procedural law," said Hasto.
