Ganjar Pranowo: Construction Of The LG Electric Car Battery Factory In The Batang Industrial Estate Begins In May 2021

JAKARTA - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo said electric car battery manufacturer LG will be the first corporation to establish a production facility in the Batang Industrial Estate.

"Within nine months, there have been around 450 zones that have been completed. Then some investors are committed in May to start groundbreaking, namely LG and glass manufacturers. Of course, we will fully support it", he said in an official statement, Wednesday, April 21.

Ganjar added that the Batang Industrial Estate is the hope for economic growth in the Central Java region. This is because this area is projected to be filled with world-class companies.

"This is an opportunity for Central Java to grow. We thank the President for his full attention on this matter, "he said.

Ganjar also emphasized that he had asked his staff, both in the province and in the regency/city, to make it easier for potential investors to enter.

"I have given directions that no one should mess around with investing. Please really monitor and encourage it to be simpler", he added.

Based on the information collected by VOI, besides LG, there is also a KCC Glass glass manufacturer that will invest its capital in this integrated industrial area.

Meanwhile, the total investment of LG which will cooperate with the BUMN (State-Owned Corporation) consortium is estimated to be worth IDR142 trillion. Meanwhile, KCC Glass is a business entity from South Korea that is said to be building the largest glass factory in Southeast Asia.

On this occasion, Ganjar also accompanied President Joko Widodo to check the development of the Batang Industrial Estate which has a total area of 4,300 hectares.

Participating in the group, the Head of BKPM  (Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board) Bahlil Lahadalia, the Regent of Batang Wihaji, and the board of directors of PT Perkebunan Nusantara, as well as the management of Grand Batang City.
