Gen Z Traveling Style, Likes To Visit Hidden Gem And Sustainable Places

JAKARTA - Traveling has become a necessity in the lives of many people, especially for generation Z or gen Z. This generation really likes traveling and has unique travel destination preferences.

If you visit a new city or country, Gen Z tends to look for authentic experiences in that place. They will avoid famous places among tourists and mingle more with local residents.

"From the actual research, what is the authentic experience there, the language of the trend is local immersion, travel like locals. So they try not to go to places that are too much for tourists," said Gaery Undarsa, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer Tiket.com, in Jakarta, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

Gen Z will look for unknown places, many people or hidden gems while on vacation. If they visit these places they will feel cooler.

They are looking for something unique, something unusual. The more people don't know (the places they visit), the cooler it feels," he said.

"The relationship with cool, cool, not tourist places, hidden gem," he added.

In addition, Gen Z also likes to vacation in an environmentally friendly place. This is influenced by environmental sustainability, which is very important today among gen Z.

"What's also interesting for gen Z is that they like places that are more sustainable, environmentally more friendly. This is a trigger for them, like traveling with sustainability. That is something important for this young generation," he concluded.
