Erick Thohir Meets Tencent Representative, Discusses US$500 Million Investment Plan

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned General Board (BUMN) Erick Thohir revealed that the world's digital giant, Tencent Holdings Ltd, is committed to strengthening the digital ecosystem in Indonesia by investing US$500 million.

Tencent's investment commitment was revealed by Erick Thohir after meeting with representatives of digital giants in the world, Tencent Holdings Ltd, Drawson Tong.

"Tencent is committed to investing in Indonesia with a value of up to 500 million US dollars to strengthen Indonesia's digital ecosystem so that it can compete at the global level," Erick wrote as quoted from the official Instagram @erickthohir, Tuesday, February 18.

Erick said this investment is not only a catalyst for opportunities for the digital economy industry but also to improve the skills of Indonesian human resources (HR) to compete in the future.

"With innovation, collaboration and sustainable investment, we build a digital economy for the prosperity and welfare of the Indonesian people," Erick wrote again.

In the meeting with Dowson Tong, continued Erich, it was also discussed about the potential of Indonesia's digital economy.

"We also discussed the potential of Indonesia's digital economy which can be one of the sectors to drive national economic growth of up to 8 percent like the vision of Mr. President General TNI (Ret.) Prabowo Subianto," he said.
