Please! Malang Earthquake Victims Still Need Some Urgent Assistance

JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Malang Regency, East Java, stated that until now there are still some urgent needs that are needed by earthquake-affected residents in the area.

Acting Head of Emergency and Logistics for BPBD Malang Regency Sadono said there are a number of urgent needs that must be immediately distributed to residents affected by the earthquake which are spread across 32 sub-districts in the area.

"There are a number of urgent needs that need to be addressed to residents affected by the earthquake in Malang Regency," said Sadono in Malang, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, April 21.

He explained some of these urgent needs, including terpaulin, bedding, family needs, and blankets.

In addition, said Sadono, fast food, nutritional supplementary food, toddler food, milk for toddlers, including building materials, and carpentry tools for the construction of houses damaged by the earthquake.

"Currently, the process of receiving aid continues and distribution of aid continues to be carried out to the affected areas," he said.

In Malang Regency, it was recorded that 10,482 houses in 32 sub-districts were damaged due to the 6.1 magnitude earthquake that rocked the area on Saturday (10/4), at around 14.00 WIB.

Of the total 10,482 houses that were damaged, 4,490 were in the minor category, 4,104 houses were moderately damaged, and 1,888 other houses were severely damaged.

In addition, 641 public facilities were also damaged, consisting of 226 schools, 233 houses of worship, 23 health facilities and 159 other public facilities. For the victims who died, four people were recorded and 110 others were injured.
