Minister Of Transportation-Mendagri Coordinates Eid Transport Regulation Scheme To Local Government

JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi together with the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian coordinated the scheme for regulating Eid 2025 transportation to local governments (Pemda) so that it could run safely and smoothly.

"The Ministry of Transportation also needs to collaborate with the Regional Government in the implementation of Eid 2025 transportation so that the movement of the community can run smoothly," said the Minister of Transportation as reported by ANTARA, Monday, February 17.

Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi together with Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian held a virtual 2025 Eid Transport Preparation Coordination Meeting with regional leaders.

"In order to overcome congestion during the Lebaran transportation period, the Ministry of Transportation has carried out a series of initial coordination with several other ministries and institutions," said the Minister of Transportation.

However, he said that support from the Regional Government was still needed so that the transportation of the homecoming flow and the return of Lebaran 2025 went well.

The Minister of Transportation said a number of schemes, both regulate the movement of the community, as well as regulation of goods transportation.

He said a number of policy proposals during the Angleb period, including the Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy, policies to limit freight transportation, as well as coordination and anticipation of congestion locations on arterial routes, especially towards Jakarta to Central Java.

The WFA scheme, according to the Minister of Transportation, needs to be carried out considering the two close holidays, namely Nyepi Day on March 29, 2025 and Eid al-Fitr which are predicted to fall on March 31 - April 1, 2025.

This policy is needed to consider the trend of community movement during a fairly large homecoming.

"So we recommend that the Government can implement WFA starting March 24, 2025, so we hope that there will be no such high mobility density before Eid," added the Minister of Transportation.

Regulation of road and crossing traffic during the Angleb 2025 period was asked about the provision of free homecoming transportation, traffic engineering, and the odd-even system.

Then restrictions on the use of motorbikes, restrictions on crossing transportation, discounts on toll road rates, and the conversion of the Motor Vehicle Weighing Implementation Unit (UPPKB) into temporary rest areas.

The Minister of Transportation hopes for the support of the Regional Government, such as providing feeder transportation (continue) from the arrival points of free homecoming participants, considering WFA policies, providing rest areas, to monitoring and anticipating areas prone to accidents and congestion.

Meanwhile, Minister of Home Affairs Tito asked the Regions and the Ministry of Transportation's Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) in the coordinating area to manage public transportation, especially land, sea and crossings to ensure the safety and security of passengers.

"This includes the Air sector, especially areas that have pioneering airports, to ensure their readiness always," he said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian said that his party had issued circular letter Number 400.6.1/749/SJ regarding Regional Government Preparedness in Supporting the 2025 Eid Homecoming Flow (1446 H) on February 17, 2025.

"Several technical policies can be conveyed by the Ministry of Transportation and colleagues from Regional Heads holding coordination meetings in their respective regions because the mobility of people in each region is different," said the Minister of Home Affairs.
