Latest Rumors: Apple Prepares A Larger Pro Display XDR 2 And IMac

JAKARTA - Apple is reportedly developing a new version of the Pro Display XDR and iMac with larger screens, although there is no certainty when these products will be released.

The first generation XDR Pro Display screen was released in December 2019, featuring a 32-inch screen with a resolution of 6K, a refresh rate of 60Hz, and a brightness level of up to 1,600 nits. This monitor is aimed at professionals at prices ranging from 4,999 US dollars (Rp. 81 million) but does not include Pro Stand for 999 US dollars (Rp. 16.1 million).

However, according to a recent report from Mark Gurman (Bloomberg), Apple is currently not making Pro Display XDR 2 a top priority. Although in 2022, Apple is reportedly developing a new version with Apple Silicon chips, there is no certainty whether this project is still running.

Previous rumors mentioned that the new generation of Pro Display XDR is expected to bring higher cameras, speakers, and refresh rates, following in the footsteps of Studio Display, which is equipped with the A13 Bionic chip for the Center Stage feature, spatial audio, and Siri voice commands.

IMac Larger In Development?

Apple has stopped production of 27 inches of iMac since switching from Intel processor to Apple Silicon, and until now it has only left iMac 24 inches as their only all-in-one computer.

Gurman said that Apple is likely to present a larger iMac in the future, but will not provide further details.

Previously, analysts Ming-Chi Kuo and Gurman themselves had reported that Apple was developing a 32-inch iMac with mini-LED panels, which allowed higher brightness levels, better contrast ratios, and better power efficiency than ordinary LCD. This iMac is expected to come at the end of 2024 or 2025, but until now there has been no official announcement.

Will Apple really bring Pro Display XDR 2 and IMac 32 inches in the near future? We'll just have to wait for further developments.
